Our History

The Hospice, at 3 Linden Road, was previously a boarding house for the junior section of The Bedford High School and before that a private dwelling, built in 1881.

Established in 1992, the Hospice has a highly respected history of providing excellent quality specialist, palliative and end of life care, from the point of diagnosis.

We have provided care and support to many hundreds of people, their relatives, families, carers and healthcare professionals.

As an independent charity we are responsible for our own fundraising and currently receive little statutory funding, we rely heavily on our fundraising team and the wonderful work our volunteers do.

We aim to provide incredible hospice care in a unique day care only setting. We do all we can to help and support our patients and their loved ones at the most difficult time of their lives.

The staff and volunteers take the time to assist the patients to live the fullest life they can.

In 2014 we received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

In 2022 we celebrated our 30th Anniversary.
