Our Team

Our Hospice is incredibly fortunate to have a wonderful team of nurses, therapists, carers and administrative staff who ensure the Hospice is delivering an excellent standard of care and support to all our patients.

Our dedicated retail team manage 5 shops which provide invaluable funds to support the delivery of our patient services.

Jinny has been at the Hospice for over 5 years and has extensive experience in retail. She has opened 4 successful shops since being here and enjoys a challenge. In her spare time, Jinny enjoys Cliff Richard concerts, food, drink and holidays in the sun.

Nurse

Karen joined the Hospice as a Bank Nurse in March 2022. She brings her extensive experience as a Parkinson’s Nurse working for the NHS.  She enjoys a walk along the beach in Norfolk and playing golf.

Healthcare Assistant

Veronica has been here for 12 years and loves the interaction with the patients and staff, and always tried to bring a little humour to the day. She loves entertaining and anything creative.

Anne-Marie Walsh

Shop Manager - Bedford

Anne-Marie has recently joined the team. She has an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care and has worked in the Healthcare sector for over 20 Years. She enjoys spending time with friends and family and practicising nail art.

Wilma Jassal

Healthcare Assistant

We recently welcomed Wilma Jassal to our Healthcare team.  Wilma joins us from Sue Ryder, where she was a Senior Nursing Assistant for 10 years.  Wilma has a particular expertise in palliative care and dementia.

Wilma has a passion for architecture and visiting historical places.  When she’s not exploring, she enjoys spending quality time with family.

Healthcare Assistant

Lorna joined the team in June 2019. She qualified as a nurse in 1982 and has worked in the NHS and private sector. She loves being with her family and enjoys travelling and eating out.

Kim Lewis

Counsellor

Kim found herself naturally pulled in the direction of palliative care, starting when she was just 16 years old. Now a qualified counsellor, Kim cares deeply about the benefits of counselling and the positive impact it can have on how her clients process and manage the challenges they face. In her spare time she can often be found in the kitchen making unusual soup combinations with the fridge leftovers!

Anne Green

Holistic Therapist

Anne is a Holistic Therapist who has been volunteering at the Hospice since April 2018. She provides Reiki therapy for the Friday patients and loves to see how soothing and relaxing they find it. Anne has another connection to the hospice, which was her boarding school house during the 1980’s, so she feels a special bond to the building as well as it’s current staff and inhabitants.Anne’s hobbies include yoga, getting out into nature, craft gins and finding new ways to reduce the plastic and other environmentally damaging chemicals in her life.

Jane Butcher

Yoga Therapist

Jane has worked as a Personal Trainer, Yoga and  Pilates Instructor for many years. Qualifying with the Wright foundation in Cancer rehabilitation, she wanted to help those with Cancer. She is also qualified in Stroke rehabilitation and works at different day care and residential care places. She also worked as a sports massage therapist. Jane previously ran Marathons for charity, now she enjoys challenging Mountains.

Nina Montgomery

Marketing & Administrator

Nina joined the hospice as a Volunteer, helping in the front office and with marketing & fundraising events. She joined the hospice team in 2018. Nina has two teenage children, is often at a swimming pool with them, and is also a swim team manager. In her spare time she loves anything creative, baking, walking and gardening.

Office Administrator

Wendy joined the team as an Administrator in September 2021 having worked for British Telecom for 39 years. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking, reading & travelling especially where a beach & cocktails are involved!

Shop Manager - Biggleswade

I am Christine and I am the Manager for Bedford daycare hospice shop in Biggleswade, I started in July 2020 having previously worked for Beales department store in Bedford. I work with a fantastic and dedicated team in Biggleswade and what makes me get up in the morning is knowing the work we do makes a positive difference to peoples lives. I unwind with a bit of yoga each day to help me cope with a busy life.

Helen joined the Hospice in July 2016 after working for 25 years for Begees. She is the new shop manager for our London Road shop and previously managed our Kempston shops. She loves working with her volunteers who are invaluable. Helen enjoys a glass of red wine in the evening having worked a long day.

Shop Manager - Bedford

I am the Manager at the Bedford Daycare Hospice Shop in Kempston. I have been working for Bedford Daycare Hospice for just over 2 years. I enjoy my job very much, every day is different, interesting and very rewarding!
